Fiduciary Appointments
Choose the people you trust to carry out different roles. We recommend naming a primary and an alternate for each.
Personal Representative / Executor
The person responsible for managing your estate after you pass — paying debts, filing taxes, and distributing assets according to your will.
Guardian for Minor Children
If both parents pass away or become incapacitated, this person will raise your minor children.
Trustee
Manages any trust(s) you create — investing assets, making distributions, and following the terms of the trust document.
Financial Power of Attorney
Handles your financial affairs if you become incapacitated — paying bills, managing accounts, and making financial decisions on your behalf.
In Missouri, your POA must be signed before two witnesses. In Illinois, it must be notarized.
Healthcare Power of Attorney
Makes medical decisions on your behalf if you cannot communicate your wishes. Sometimes called a "healthcare proxy."
This person should understand your values and healthcare preferences. Discuss your wishes with them ahead of time.
